A banner rookie year continued for Alison Lee, as the 20-year-old opened the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia with a 6-under 65 and grabbed a share of the first-round lead.
The American birdied five of her first eight holes at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, and got her score to 7 under until her lone bogey of the day at 17.
It was less than a year ago that Lee was still playing college golf at UCLA. The former Bruin decided to move on to the pro ranks after co-medaling at LPGA Q-School last December.
In a sensational rookie season, Lee ranks 27th in the Rolex Ranking, has earned six top-10s and cashed a cool $583,852.
