SPRINGFIELD, N.J. — Arnie Cunningham stood on the putting green at Baltusrol Golf Club on Tuesday and joined with everyone else who studied John Daly’s Loudmouth pants. Colors were everywhere: green, vibrant blue, yellow, orange, black.
Cunningham laughed. Having spent more years than he’d care to ponder on the PGA Tour as an equipment representative, Cunningham recalled that only one color mattered in 1991 when Daly turned the pro golf world upside down at the PGA Championship.
“White,” said Cunningham, who worked then for Cobra and was thrilled when Daly overpowered Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind.
