Following the Golden State Warriors' 104-78 blowout win over the Houston Rockets, Stephen Curry wore a RUN TMC hat to his post-game press conference. Curry's choice of headwear spawned plenty of "what is RUN TMC?" questions, especially among younger NBA fans. We're here to explain exactly what RUN TMC is.
RUN TMC refers to the nickname given to the Warriors' offensively-gifted trio that played together from 1989 to 1991: Tim Hardaway, Mitch Richmond and Chris Mullin. Initials from each of the players formed the TMC.
The nickname itself is a play on rap group RUN-D.M.C.

The RUN TMC Warriors played a fast-paced, high-scoring style of basketball. The current Warriors' style of play has drawn comparisons to the RUN TMC Warriors. Those Warriors were together for a very brief period under head coach Don Nelson, who also coached the "We Believe" Warriors of 2006.
The RUN TMC Warriors were intact from 1989-1991, breaking up when the team traded Richmond to the Sacramento Kings for Billy Owens in November 1991.
As for why Curry is wearing a RUN TMC hat, he told reporters that he purchased the RUN TMC hat as a gift to himself. He also wore the hat before the game.
