The Golden State Warriors continue to roll and built up a seven-game win streak this past week, but saw that streak come to an end on the road in Miami on Monday. Now, the Warriors are gearing up to start another streak. More on the week that was and more inside our Warriors Weekly update:
Last Week:
Golden State started the week with a major showdown against the Oklahoma City Thunder, and it was chippy on both sides. Even though Russell Westbrook got a triple-double, Kevin Durant scored a game-high 40 points on just 16 shots to lead the Warriors to a 121-100 win. However, the big story of the game came from Zaza Pachulia's rough foul on Westbrook:
The Warriors then kicked off a four-game road trip on Friday against the Houston Rockets, where they dismantled another MVP frontrunner in James Harden, limiting him to just 17 points in a 125-108 win. That was followed with the first game of a back-to-back on Sunday against the Orlando Magic, where they shook off a slow start for the 118-98 win. The game was tied at halftime, but the Warriors turned it on in the third quarter, when they outscored Orlando 42-24.
Golden State put their seven-game win streak on the line against the Miami Heat on Monday in the second night of that back-to-back, but it didn't go well. After rallying late to tie the game with just seconds left, Dion Waiters with a game-winner for the Heat with just 0.6 seconds left. It was part of a 33-point night for Waiters, tying his career high.
What's Up Next:
Golden State starts the week closing out their four-game road trip tonight against the Charlotte Hornets, then return home for a back-to-back this weekend. They will host the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday, then make the trip to Oregon to face the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday.
Injuries:
Forward David West suffered a non-displaced fracture in his left thumb and will be re-evaluated in another week.
