The Golden State Warriors embarked on a five-game road trip this week, and lost just their fourth game of the season against the Memphis Grizzlies. However, three more dominant wins have pushed Golden State to a 21-4 record, the best mark in the league. More on the week that was and more inside our Warriors Weekly update:
Last Week:
Golden State played two sets of back-to-back games on the road this week, starting on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Warriors did what they normally do, beating the Clippers for the seventh straight time with a 115-98 victory - even though Stephen Curry failed to make a three-pointer for just the second time all season.
They followed that up with a game at Utah against the Jazz on Thursday, in which they opened up a 24-point lead in the first quarter and held on for the 106-99 win.
After the Warriors got a day off on Friday, they took on the Grizzlies on Saturday - and Golden State played as flat as they had all season, trailing by as many as 30 points in a 110-89 defeat. The Warriors scored just 38 points in the first half, the fewest of the season. Klay Thompson said the team just wasn't "on the same page," with Durant describing it as "just one of those nights."
Turns out, they were right. Golden State got back to their winning ways on Sunday, getting a 116-108 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves - marking an NBA-record streak of 111 regular-season games without back-to-back losses.
What's Up Next:
The Warriors close the trip on Tuesday against the New Orleans Pelicans, and then return home for three straight games. That homestand starts on Thursday with a TNT game against the New York Knicks before closing the week on Saturday against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Injuries:
Center Zaza Pachulia has been ruled out for tonight's game against the Pelicans with a wrist injury. It will be the third straight game he has missed, and he is listed as day-to-day going forward.
