The Golden State Warriors dropped two games early in the season, but have come together faster than almost anyone expected. That quick unity and chemistry has been the catalyst for their current 12-game winning streak, pushing their record to 16-2. More on that streak and more inside our Warriors Weekly update:
Last Week:
Golden State started the week with a home-and-home series with the Los Angeles Lakers, and they got two of their most impressive wins in that mini-series. They started the week with a 149-106 win over LA, dishing out a franchise-record 47 assists. On Friday, they traveled to Los Angeles and didn't miss a step, winning 109-85 in an excellent defensive performance. They limited the Lakers to 35.6 percent shooting, including 22.7 percent from three-point range.
After that game, Golden State returned home for a the start of a five-game homestand. That started with the second game of a back-to-back on Saturday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and even though the Warriors were without Draymond Green (ankle), they found a way to pull out the 115-102 win.
The Warriors then closed the week on Monday with a thrilling 105-100 win over the Atlanta Hawks. Even though the Hawks led for most of the game, Golden State stepped up defensively in the fourth quarter - headlined by Green coming up with two blocks in the final 43.4 seconds:
Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry all also scored at least 20 points for the third straight game.
What's Up Next:
The Warriors will play the final three games of their homestand this week, starting with a nationally-televised showdown on Thursday against the Houston Rockets. Golden State will then face the Phoenix Suns on Saturday and the Indiana Pacers on Monday.
Injuries:
Draymond Green and guard Ian Clark are dealing with ankle and throat injuries, respectively, but both played Monday against the Hawks.
