The Golden State Warriors' dream start to the NBA season has continued to gain momentum, and the whole league is coming along for the ride. Let's get you up to speed with our Warriors Weekly.
The Week That Was
Golden State has won the first four games of a seven-game road trip, improving to an incredible 22-0 in the process. They've won every which way in their run so far, edging the Utah Jazz (106-103) and Toronto Raptors in one-possession thrillers (112-109) while also blowing out the Charlotte Hornets (116-99) and Brooklyn Nets (114-98) in front of surprisingly pro-Warriors crowds.
The biggest test may have been in Toronto as Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry engaged Stephen Curry in the backcourt duel of the NBA season so far. Lowry scored a career-high 41 points and had Toronto ahead late, but the Raptors just couldn't deny Curry who finished with 44 points and nine 3-pointers.
With these wins factored in, the Warriors still haven't scored less than 100 points this season. They're 26-game winning streak spanning two regular seasons is just one game shy of the 2012-13 Miami Heat for second all time.
What's Next?
Golden State finishes off their road trips with trips to Indiana (12-7), Boston (11-9) and Milwaukee (8-3). The Warriors get a day of rest before engaging the Pacers on Tuesday, and two games off before a back-to-back Friday and Saturday against the Celtics and Warriors. The Warriors are fresh off a back-to-back, so it'll be interesting to see how they respond in the second one of the trip.
One heartening note -- Golden State has played more road games than home games so far, winning 12 away and 10 at Oracle Arena. Whether the crowds or hostile or friendly, the Warriors just keep executing. Don't expect anything less to close out the trip.
Injuries
Harrison Barnes sprained his ankle back on November 27th at Phoenix and hasn't hit the court since. He'll be out at least another week, meaning that he won't make his return this road trip.
"His limp is getting less, so we'll take it," Warriors interim head coach Luke Walton said Friday. "What the (medical staff) told us is it's kind of a week-to-week instead of day-to-day thing."
Barnes will be reevaluated early next week when the team returns to the Bay Area.
