The Golden State Warriors were mired in the worst stretch of their 2015-16 season so far heading into Monday night's showdown with the Cleveland Cavs, losing two of three. However, a Christmas Day and 2015 NBA Finals redux was just what the team needed to snap out of their funk. We look at that and more in our Warriors Weekly: Mid-Week Edition.
Where We've Been
How do you put two uneven road losses to Denver (112-110) and Detroit (113-95) over the span of three days in the rear view mirror? Take down a revenge-seeking Cleveland Cavs squad by 34 points on the road. Stephen Curry scored 35 points in three quarters, Andre Iguodala gave the Cavs a Finals flashback with 20, and the Warriors swept their season series with Cleveland in a 132-98 romp.
Golden State built the lead to 30 at the half and 43 after the break -- allowing them to rest starters as they backpedaled across the finish line. While the Warriors are just 2-2 in their last four, they remain on pace at 38-4 to break the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls' season-season wins record of 72.
Where We're Going
The Dubs finish off their three-game East Coast swing in Chicago against the Bulls on Wednesday. Sitting in 2nd in the East's Central Division at 24-16, the Bulls have lost four of six. However, they're coming off a spirited 111-101 road victory over a Pistons team that's been fantastic at home all year.
Golden State returns to Oakland on Friday to start a three-game homestand against the Indiana Pacers (23-19). The BIG game comes on Monday, however, when the #2 seed in the West -- the San Antonio Spurs (36-6) -- come to Oracle for what may be the biggest regular-season game of the year. San Antonio has won 11 straight and is the only team in the NBA giving up less than 95 points per game (89.6).
Injuries
Other than bumps, bruises and Stephen Curry's continued recovery from a shin injury (which is going quite well), the Warriors are as healthy as they've been all year. Golden State interim coach Luke Walton will keep resting starters here and there as the season progresses, but there are no significant injuries to speak off as of this time.
