The Golden State Warriors are a perfect 5-0 heading into the weekend, and it doesn't appear like they're going to slow things down anytime soon. Let's get you up to speed with the week that was and the week ahead with our Warriors Weekly: Everything You Need To Know From The Defending World Champs This Week.
The Week That Was
After hammering the New Orleans Pelicans (twice) and the Houston Rockets (once) by an average margin of victory of 16.6 points in week one, Golden State followed it up with a MAMMOTH beatdown of the Memphis Grizzlies, 119-69. With the win, the Warriors set a new NBA record for point differential through the first four games of an NBA season at 100. Stephen Curry followed up a 53-point performance last weekend with another gem on Monday, scoring 21 of his 30 points in a furious third quarter for the Dubs which put away their 2015 NBA Playoff Western Conference Semifinal opponents for good.
Golden State followed things up with their first nail-biter victory of the 2015-16 season, edging the Los Angeles Clippers 112-108 in an epic heavyweight battle between the two rivals at Oracle Arena on Wednesday. The Warriors trailed by one heading into the fourth quarter, but outscored Los Angeles 30-25 in the fourth -- capping things off with a go-ahead three-point dagger by Stephen Curry with just over a minute to go.
What's Next?
Golden State plays five games over the next seven days, including two back-to-backs. The Warriors host the Denver Nuggets on Friday before traveling to Sacramento for a date with the Kings. They'll return home to face the Detroit Pistons before heading out for a road back-to-back on Wednesday/Thursday against the Memphis Grizzlies and Minnesota Timberwolves.
While two back-to-backs over the span of the week is draining for any team, the Detroit Pistons are the only team on this list that we give a remote shot at beating the streaking Dubs -- especially with the way Golden State manhandled Memphis on Monday. That game's at Oracle, however, so we're predicting a 5-0 clean sweep to make it ten straight W's before next weekend.
Injuries
Center Andrew Bogut missed Wednesday's game against the Clippers with concussion symptoms. Bogut suffered his concussion on opening night against the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Warriors remain optimistic about Bogut's status for Friday against the Nuggets, but he remains listed as questionable despite participating in the team's shootaround on Friday.
