The Golden State Warriors will once again be without their franchise cornerstone on Thursday, as Stephen Curry will sit out the second half of a road back-to-back against the Houston Rockets with a left calf injury.
Curry was a game-time decision heading into the first game of a Texas back-to-back against the Mavericks yesterday, but head coach Luke Walton made it clear to reporters that the chances were "pretty slim" that Curry would suit up.
The 2014-15 NBA MVP was walking gingerly after the team's victory over the Sacramento Kings on Monday, and it behooves the team to remain cautious with him -- especially sitting with the best record in the NBA by far at 29-1. In fact, it's possible he won't return till next week.
The Warriors have been outscored by 5.3 points per 100 possessions with Curry on the bench this year. That number is skewed considering that other starters are normally sitting with him when he's taking a rest. However, the Warriors were manhandled without him on Wednesday in a 114-91 loss to the Mavs.
Without Curry in the lineup, the Warriors will lean on Shaun Livingston for extended minutes. Leandro Barbosa didn't make the trip due to injury.
