Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson is expected to miss several weeks with a fractured thumb, but Thompson told reporters that he expects to be back sooner than that.
“I think I can be back sooner,” Thompson said. “But we’ll see how my recovery goes. I have faith that I’ll be back sooner than a couple of weeks.
“I thought it was just a bad sprain. Luckily it wasn’t worse. It hurt. But I’m not going to leave the game with only eight or nine guys. I’m not going to leave them out there on an island like that. So I just played through it.”
Thompson suffered the injury in the second quarterback of Sunday's loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves and played the rest of the game. However, he has been held out since.

“I think it will be good for Klay to rest his body, rest his mind,” head coach Steve Kerr said. “He does so much for us every single night and he never takes a rest. I’m sure by the time he gets back he’s going to be itching to get out there.”
A reliable player who has largely avoided injuries to this point in his career, Thompson has played in 530 of a possible 543 games.
Golden State is currently dealing with a rash of injuries. Stephen Curry for at least a few more days after he re-aggravated an ankle injury last week, while Draymond Green is dealing with a shoulder injury and Kevin Durant dealing with rib soreness. Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston, Davis West, and Patrick McCaw are also dealing with injuries.
Thompson is averaging 19.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per game this season.
