Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr will travel with the team to San Antonio for Games 3 & 4 of the Western Conference Finals, according to Anthony Slater of the San Jose Mercury News:
Steve Kerr isn’t expected to coach the Warriors from the sidelines in Games 3 and 4 of the West Finals, but he will be making the trip to San Antonio, Bob Myers told 95.7 The Game on Wednesday afternoon.
This is the latest sign of Kerr’s progress. After being away from the team for about a week and missing the Warriors’ two road games in Salt Lake City during the last series, Kerr returned to practice right before the West Finals and came to the arena for Games 1 and 2, delivering mic’d up halftime speeches.
Kerr has been out since Game 3 of their first round series against the Portland Trail Blazers with back issues. He has participated in coaches meetings and been on hand for a number of practices, but hasn't been coaching at all in games other than those halftime speeches.
Kerr is still out indefinitely, and players don't expect him to be coaching on the sidelines again this postseason. However, it is clear that Kerr is involved as much as he can be, and the fact that he's traveling with the team signals he is feeling better.
Assistant Mike Brown has taken over as interim head coach in Kerr's absence and has led the Warriors to an 8-0 record in the postseason.
