The deal will be for the veterans minimum, since that is all Golden State has left to offer. McGee was reportedly angry at the Warriors after they used the full mid-level exception to bring in Nick Young and gave Zaza Pachulia a 20 percent raise.
McGee has met with several teams this month, including the Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento Kings, to try and see if anyone would offer him more than the minimum. Apparently, that was not the case.
He proved to be a valuable player for the Warriors last year off the bench, averaging 6.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in less than 10 minutes per game. McGee is expected to have a slightly larger role this year.
