Golden State Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson is often overshadowed by the play of his backcourt-mate, MVP Steph Curry, but Thompson didn't mince words when talking about the other players around the league at his position - he's the best.
"I'm going to go with myself," Thompson said Saturday. "We're 26-1."
Thompson was an All-Star and made the All-NBA Third Team last year, but is playing even better this season, averaging 19.3 points per game. His shooting has also improved (career-high 47.3 percent this year), and has been Golden State's leading scorer in each of their last two games.
"When you play with a free mind and you play thinking you're not hurt and you're healthy, that's when you're playing your best," Thompson said. "I want to continue playing like this, get better every month."
However, while Thompson considers himself to be the best two-guard in the game, he doesn't think he's be the best player on his team, conceding that title to Curry - especially in the shooting department.
"Right now, Steph's a better shooter," he said. "I'm trying to catch him. Just by a little, though. Not by a lot. I can't say he's way better than me. He is one of the greatest, and it's an honor to be in the same backcourt with him."
