After watching his father Dell honored at halftime, Stephen Curry exploded for 28 points in the third quarter. Curry's massive game was enough to propel the Golden State Warriors to a 116-99 win over the Charlotte Hornets. The Warriors are now a perfect 20-0 with the win, while the Hornets dropped to 10-7.
Curry closed with 40 points in just three quarters of action. With Golden State up by 21 at the end of the third, Curry didn't play in the fourth quarter. It's the third time this season Curry has scored 40 points in three quarters of play. The rest of the NBA combined has done that once.
Curry was 14 of 18 from the field, including hitting 10 of 11 shots in the third. He drained eight of his 11 three point attempts, including this absurd shot.
Klay Thompson had 21 points, the bulk of which came in the first half. Draymond Green nearly had a double-double for the Warriors, despite scoring just four points. He had 11 rebounds and nine assists.
The starters struggled for the Hornets, with only Nicolas Batum scoring in double figures. He had a team-high 17. Kemba Walker struggled, putting up just four points on 2 of 16 shooting.
The Warriors will try to keep their streak alive against the Toronto Raptors Saturday. This is just the Hornets' second loss in their last seven games and they'll look to continue their strong play against the Bulls Saturday.
