The Golden State Warriors have reached 73 wins. Thanks to the Warriors' 125-104 win over the Memphis Grizzlies (42-40) Wednesday night, the Warriors now have the most wins in a single season in NBA history. The Warriors (73-9) were tied with the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls entering the game, but now hold the record outright.
The Warriors led 70-50 at halftime, with the play of Stephen Curry a major factor in that. Curry had 25 points in the first half and hit 7 of 13 3-pointers. Curry hit his 400th 3-pointer of the season during the game as well. No player had hit 300 in a single season before this year.
The Warriors went off behind the arc, hitting 20 of 47 3-pointers. Outside of Curry, four others reached double-figures for Golden State. Draymond Green had 11 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. The Warriors sat most of their starters in the fourth quarter, as the game was already over by then.
Lance Stephenson and Zach Randolph led the way for the Grizzlies. Randolph had 24 points, while Stephenson had 20. Only four Grizzlies reached double-figures.
The Warriors will play the Houston Rockets in the opening round of the NBA playoffs. The Grizzlies will play the San Antonio Spurs. The dates and times of those games have not yet been announced.
