What's next for the Golden State Warriors after the first week of the 2015 NBA free agency period? Find out in our Warriors Free Agency Rumors Roundup For July 8th.
Warriors to keep Gerald Wallace on roster
The Golden State Warriors traded former All-Star power forward David Lee to the Boston Celtics for veteran forward Gerald Wallace. Some thought the Warriors may wave him, but they plan to keep him on their roster.
Wallace played a very minor role for the Celtics last season, appearing in just 32 games while averaging 1.1 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. He is in the final year of his contract that will pay him over $10.1 million this season.
Both Lee and the Warriors "resolved to work together to 'come up with a good solution' to find a new home for Lee this offseason." He is entering the final year of his contract that will pay him $15 million this season.
Warriors On The Lookout For Bench Scoring
SF Luke Babbitt, SG Wayne Ellington, and former Warriors SG Jason Richardson are all free-agent options for the Warriors as they look for a second-unit shooter to pair with the likes of Shaun Livingston and Andre Iguodala.
While the team originally worried that it would have to use its $3.4 million taxpayer exception to find such a shooter, SFGate's Rusty Simmons reports that one, if not all of the above options could be had for the veteran minimum.
