The box score says the Golden State Warriors beat the Portland Trail Blazers 110-99. But that's not indicative of what happened Tuesday night. Portland led by as many as 17 during the game and by 11 entering the fourth quarter. That lead wasn't enough, as the Warriors came storming back to take a 2-0 series lead in the Western Conference Semifinals.
The Warriors dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring the Trail Blazers 34-12. The Warriors took their first lead of the game with 5:33 to play. The Trail Blazers took it back seconds later, but the Warriors led for the final five minutes of play.
Klay Thompson heated up for the Warriors in the second half, and finished with 27 points, 20 of which came in the second half. He was 7 of 20 from the field, 5 of 14 from beyond the arc and 8 of 8 from the free throw line. Draymond Green had 17 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists and four blocks. Andre Iguodala had 15 points, and Harrison Barnes had 13.
In just 13 minutes of action, Festus Ezeli had eight points and six boards. Shaun Livingston, starting in place of the injured Stephen Curry, had 12 points, four assists and four rebounds.
Damian Lillard was great for the Trail Blazers, especially in the third quarter. He had 17 of his 25 points in the third. Lillard was 8 of 20 from the field and 6 of 11 from beyond the arc. He also added six assists.
Three others reached double figures for the Blazers. C.J. McCollum had 22 points and Al-Farouq Aminu had a surprising 14 points. Gerald Henderson chipped in 12 points off the bench. Mason Plumlee had only six points, but had 11 rebounds and four assists.
Game 3 of the series is Saturday in Portland. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET.
