The Golden State Warriors didn't have Stephen Curry in Game 5 against the Houston Rockets, but it didn't matter. The Warriors blew out the Rockets 114-81 to advance to the Western Conference Semifinals.
The Warriors led by 17 after the first quarter and the game was never close. The Warriors come out firing and finished with a 54.9 shooting percentage and hit 13 of 31 3-pointers. The Rockets hit just 32.3 percent, were 6 of 33 beyond the arc and turned it over 17 times.
Klay Thompson led the way for Golden State, with 27 points. He was 10 of 14 from the field, including 7 of 11 from behind the arc. Draymond Green had 15 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. Had the game not been a blowout, he likely would have had a triple-double. Starting in place of Curry, Shaun Livingston had 16 points, three rebounds and three assists.
As for the Rockets, everyone except James Harden apparently forgot to show up. Harden was the only player to hit a shot from the field in the first, finishing with 18 of the Rockets' 20 points in the first. Harden finished the game with 35 points on 12 of 23 shooting, despite sitting on the bench for much of the fourth quarter.
The rest of the team had a combined 46 points on 19 of 73 shooting. Harden hit more shots from the field than any three Rockets combined.
The Warriors will play the winner of the Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers series. The Blazers took a 3-2 series lead with their win earlier Wednesday.
