In a win or go home game, the Portland Trail Blazers led the Golden State Warriors by as many as 11 in the first half. But the Blazers couldn't hold onto that lead. Golden State used a strong second half to overcome a five-point halftime deficit and capture a 125-121 victory. The Warriors advance to the Western Conference Finals with the win.
The Warriors had an eight-point lead in the fourth quarter, although Portland didn't quit. The Trail Blazers cut the lead to one with four minutes to play, although that was as close as they would get. The two teams went back-and-forth in the final few minutes of the fourth quarter, but the Warriors held on for the win.
Klay Thompson caught fire late in the second quarter and led the way for the Warriors. He finished with 33 points on 13 of 17 shooting and was 6 of 9 from beyond the arc. He didn't attempt a shot in the fourth quarter. Stephen Curry wasn't quite himself early, but caught fire in the fourth and finished with 29 points and 11 assists. Draymond Green had a typical night, posting 13 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.
Four other Warriors had at least eight points. Shaun Livingston had 10 points, while Harrison Barnes came close to a double-double with eight points and seven board.
The Trail Blazers had five different players reach double figures. Damian Lillard led the way with 28 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. However, he was just 2 of 7 behind the arc and turned the ball over five times. Allen Crabbe had a surprising 20 points and was 5 of 7 beyond the arc. C.J. McCollum was huge in the fourth quarter and finished with 27 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Moe Harkless had 13 and Al-Farouq Aminu had 16.
The Warriors will face the winner of the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs series. The start of that series is to be determined.
