Kerr hadn't coached a game all season, taking time to recover from two offseason back surgeries. However, he has traveled with the team on Golden State's last few road trips.
Luke Walton, who took over as interim head coach in Kerr's absence, will return to his role as assistant coach.
Walton has led the Warriors to a remarkable 39-4 record so far this season, which is the second-best 43-game mark in NBA history. Kerr led Golden State to a 67-15 record and a NBA title last year, his first year on the job.
The Warriors take on the Pacers in Oakland at 10:30 pm ET tonight. The game will be televised on ESPN.
