Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry is fresh off his first MVP award and first NBA title, but he said he still has much loftier goals for his career. In an interview with ESPN, Curry said his goal is to be better than Michael Jordan:
"It's a high mountain to climb, but I'm pretty motivated to take on the challenge. Whatever that means, however you got to that mountain, why not try to climb it? And do it your own way. Why else would I be playing?' You want to be the best you can be. And if the best you can be is better than him, then why not? That's good motivation.''
Jordan, of course, is widely recognized as the best player ever to play the game.
Curry still has a way to go to catch him from a hardware standpoint, as MJ won six championships, five MVP's, and was a 14-time All-Star. However, Curry is already considered to be the greatest shooter of all-time, and owns the record for most three-pointers made in a single season.
Curry has led the Warriors to a 22-0 start to this season, setting a new NBA record. Many experts think they have shot at passing the best record in NBA history at 72-10, posted by Jordan's Chicago Bulls during the 1995-96 season.
He is averaging 32.4 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game so far this season.
