The Warriors could not convince Kevin Durant to stay. Could they convince Durant, however, to accept a sign-and-trade?
The answer to that question remains both open-ended and complicated because of various team motives and salary cap rules. Durant announced that he would join the Brooklyn Nets on his Instagram account of The Boardroom, his company-owned sports business network. Though the Nets have the cap space to sign Durant to a max offer worth four years at $164 million, Yahoo! Sports reported that Durant might be open to a sign-and-trade.
The Warriors had maintained they did not want to consider a sign-and-trade with Durant before having the chance to convince him to accept a five-year, $221 million offer.
