Mark Jackson was less than four minutes into the first Warriors game he’d called as an analyst since being fired as their head coach. To make a point about Cleveland center Timofey Mozgov, Jackson referenced the Australian big man with whom he had worked for two seasons in Oakland.
“To me, a rim protector is overrated in this league,” Jackson said during that Jan. 9, 2015, ESPN telecast. “I say that because you look at the Warriors. No Andrew Bogut, and their defense stays, or even improves.”
Golden State has invalidated Jackson’s theory seven games into the post-Bogut era.
