With Curry, Posey and Cal, Under Armour wants to own Bay Area

Under Armour represents the most popular athletes and the largest university in the Bay Area. But the sportswear company likely isn't finished.

CEO Kevin Plank said he wants to expand the company's "beachhead" in the region. "San Francisco is certainly a region for us that we're very excited about locking down,'' Plank said recently, upon announcing a 10-year, $86 million cash-and-product deal with Cal. "This is a critical piece to anchoring what have.''What Under Armour has is Warriors guard Stephen Curry and Giants catcher Buster Posey, along with 49ers safety Eric Reid and Saint Mary's College.Last year, the company acquired San Francisco-based MyFitnessPal, the latest in its move into the wearable technology space.
