While the odds favor the Warriors beating the Cavaliers and winning their third NBA title since moving to the Bay Area, it may be a longshot that the Warriors change their name for the third time once they move to San Francisco.
And the former has everything to do with the latter.
The Warriors ascension to the top of NBA’s hierarchy in recent years caused Joe Lacob’s ownership group to re-think its position on renaming the team the San Francisco Warriors when they move into San Francisco’s Chase Center for the 2019-20 season.
