OAKLAND – The offseason centered on rest and recovery. That is what happens for a Golden State Warriors team that has appeared in the NBA Finals for three consecutive years. That is also what happens for Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who has fought pain ever since nursing a spinal leak stemmed from back surgery in 2015.
Just because the Warriors focused on resting both to recover from a championship season and to prepare for another one, that did not mean the Warriors relaxed with work. While the Warriors’ players and coaching staff cleared their minds, general manager Bob Myers furiously worked the phones to ensure the championship concrete did not crumble.
