NEW YORK — Thursday’s trade deadline deal that brought Andrew Wiggins to Golden State presents the latest test for the Warriors’ culture.
On Thursday, the Warriors sent All-Star point guard D’Angelo Russell and bench contributors Jacob Evans and Omari Spellman to the Timberwolves for Wiggins, Minnesota’s top-three protected first-round pick in 2021 and a 2021 second-round pick. The picks, and resetting the clock on the expensive repeater tax, are obvious wins.

However, Wiggins, the first overall pick in 2014’s draft, hasn’t lived up to his draft position in his five-plus seasons in Minnesota.
