OAKLAND — About an hour after the Warriors’ 134-127 win over the LA Clippers, JaVale McGee towered over the media contingency armed with a distinction he hasn’t laid claim to much this season.

Starting center for the NBA champion Warriors.

Prior to Thursday’s start, McGee has watched more highlights than he’s been a part of. Over the past 10 weeks, the seven-foot center has played more than 10 minutes just seven times, with coach Steve Kerr favoring the likes of David West, Kevon Looney, and Zaza Pachulia over McGee’s propensity to rim run and catch alley-oops.
