An age-old journalistic trick is to get a jump on writing a postgame recap by starting it in the fourth quarter. This carries with it a certain amount of risk, because the sports gods do not take kindly to sportswriters assuming outcomes. I try to avoid doing this at all costs because I am nothing if not superstitious. One of the last times I even considered doing this was when the Golden State Warriors were up big on the Dallas Mavericks earlier this season at Chase Center. As you all know, the Warriors (in)famously lost that game, and I decided to never again tempt fate by assuming a sports outcome again.
