The Warriors are signing former Kings center Willie Cauley-Stein, according to The Athletic’s Marcus Thompson.
Cauley-Stein was the No. 6 pick in the 2015 draft, but he has not lived up to that billing in his four-year Sacramento career.
The center’s agent campaigned in the press last month for the Kings to allow Cauley-Stein to walk in free agency, and it worked. Just Monday the organization rescinded its qualifying offer to him, making him an unrestricted free agent.
Cauley-Stein averaged 11.9 points and 8.4 rebounds for the Kings last season in 81 games as the team moved toward contention in the Western Conference.
