LOS ANGELES — The Warriors have made some decisions that add clarity to the back end of their rotation. While the Warriors do not plan to exercise a fourth-year option on reserve forward Kevon Looney, they plan to pick up a third-year option on reserve center Damian Jones.
The Warriors have until Tuesday to make their decisions official. Although they have liked Looney’s progression after having two-injury prone seasons, the Warriors had financial considerations. Looney would be owed $2.2 million next season, making the Warriors pay nearly double that in luxury taxes. The Warriors will retain Looney for the 2017-18 season, but he will enter next offseason as an unrestricted free agent.
