Things couldn’t have gone much better for the Grizzlies on Sunday afternoon, and it still wasn’t nearly enough to hang with the Warriors.
Memphis generally kept the “Splash Brothers” to a slow trickle and used the “Smash Brothers” to get both Andrew Bogut and Draymond Green into foul trouble, but the Warriors’ depth was on full display in a 101-86 Game 1 victory at Oracle Arena.
Game 2 of the teams’ best-of-seven, Western Conference semifinal series is at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Oakland.
The Warriors’ bench outscored the Memphis reserves 30-18, and the Warriors got a variety of contributions on an afternoon when Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson combined for 40 points on 16-of-34 shooting.
