Warriors Rumors: Dubs didn’t match McCaw’s offer sheet for multiple reasons

When asked out the decision not to match Patrick McCaw’s offer sheet, a 2-year, $6 million offer from Cleveland, the Golden State Warriors general manager didn’t give one single reason as to why the Dubs decided to let the youngster walk.

Instead, he gave a few reasons behind the decision, per the Mercury News’ Mark Medina.

Bob Myers citing roster flexibility, particularly with Damian Jones injury, and Alfonzo McKinnie’s play as reasons why the Warriors did not match McCaw’s offer sheet. He acknowledged luxury tax implications, but not the main factor

Both the luxury tax and the continued freedom of having one remaining roster spot were enticing alternatives.
