OAKLAND -- With the historical win never in doubt, the Warriors' game against the Los Angeles Lakers turned into a coronation.
The Warriors improved to 16-0 after an exclamation-point 111-77 win Tuesday that broke the record for the best start in NBA history previously held by the 1948-49 Washington Capitols and 1993-94 Houston Rockets. The victory came in such dominant fashion that Warriors starters spent the entire fourth quarter sitting on the bench and basking in the glow. Fans at Oracle Arena stood during the final minute and then roared when a congratulatory message from former Rockets player Kenny Smith was played on the scoreboard.
