Warriors rookie center rebounding from surgery

DENVER — An aged Warriors center position received some good news Friday: Rookie Damian Jones, who underwent surgery in June for a torn right pectoral muscle, has been cleared for noncontact work.

“He is not allowed to dunk because they don’t want him to hurt his shoulder, but we would like to get him out there as much as possible,” head coach Steve Kerr said before Golden State’s preseason game Friday night against the Nuggets. “He is an intriguing young talent; he is big and athletic. I am hoping he will develop into an important player for us.
