SAN FRANCISCO — Warriors general manager Bob Myers was at home when he got a text message from assistant general manager Kirk Lacob that stopped him in his tracks.
Myers had learned that Kobe Bryant, the legendary NBA player, had died Sunday morning when his helicopter crashed in Southern California. Myers had known Bryant for more than 20 years, starting when he was first hired as a sports agent for the Los Angeles-based Tellem and Associates in 1997.
“I think the initial visceral response was just ‘No,'” Myers said. “We talk about fake news and hoaxes we were hoping this was one of those.
