INDIANAPOLIS — Even as he has fought some ailments, Nick Young could not help but laugh.
The Warriors’ joyful forward chuckled over a reporter joking he would have a “flu game” the way Michael Jordan famously did in Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz. Perhaps unrealistic. Yet, Young will still play when the Warriors (57-21) play the Indiana Pacers (46-32) despite nursing the flu.
Part of the reason: the Warriors are already shorthanded in their backcourt with absences to Stephen Curry (left MCL sprain), Patrick McCaw (lumbar spine contusion) and Omri Casspi (sprained right ankle).
