The writing was on the wall early for D’Angelo Russell. It was easy to assume that the Golden State Warriors only acquired the young All-Star to cut their losses when Kevin Durant announced his decision.
Russell is an enticing rising star but didn’t aid the Warriors much in their pursuit of another championship. There was seemingly no way to manage minutes between Russell, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. It was only a matter of time before D-Lo was flipped for a more suitable asset.
The day finally came when the Warriors pulled the trigger on a deal to send D-Lo to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Andrew Wiggins and a future first round pick.
