March Madness is coming to San Francisco for the first time in more than 80 years, and it will be played in the new Warriors home, the NCAA announced Tuesday.
Chase Center, the Warriors’ new, state-of-the-art sports and entertainment complex that is set to open in 2019, will house the NCAA West Regional on March 24 and 26 in 2022. In fact, the 2022 NCAA Tournament becomes the first event scheduled for the new facility.
The Pac-12 conference will host the event in San Francisco’s Mission Bay neighborhood. It will mark the first time the NCAA Tournament has been held in San Francisco since 1939, when the West Regional was played at the California Coliseum on Treasure Island.
