Warriors lose for first time when Steve Kerr starts Andre Iguodala

About an hour before Monday’s game, the stat monitors along press row listed James Michael McAdoo as the starter who would be replacing suspended Draymond Green.

But the chosen one was actually Andre Iguodala for Game 5.

“He’s one of lead players. He’s one of our captains,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said. “When you talk about role players, you generally want to put role players in a position to succeed.

“You don’t think about putting Andre in a position to succeed. He just succeeds.”

Iguodala has started six games since Kerr took over the Warriors before the 2014-15 season: the closing three games of the 2015 NBA Finals, a regular-season game against Denver this season, Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals and Monday’s Game 5.
