The Warriors lost a key member of their support staff for the second time this week when manager of basketball analytics Sammy Gelfand joined the Detroit Pistons.
Gelfand’s departure, first reported by The Athletic, was confirmed but the team gave no indication if they’ll hire an outside replacement or promote from within to replace Gelfand.
Warriors head performance therapist Chelsea Lane left on Tuesday to join the Atlanta Hawks.
Gelfand, who was utilized extensively by coach Steve Kerr to detect and understand trends. Also, when a standings logjam made it unclear who the Warriors would face in their first-round playoff series, Kerr enlisted Gelfand’s expertise to calculate the likelihood of all the varying scenarios.
