Klay Thompson’s contract is set to expire after the upcoming season, and he would become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2019 if the Warriors are unable to sign him to a contract extension.
Extension negotiations have been going on this summer, but the two sides have yet to reach a deal.
Klay’s father Mychal has been pretty vocal about his son’s contract situation over the past few months.
Earlier this offseason, Mychal Thompson said that Klay will wait to re-sign with Golden State until his contract expires.
Financially, that would be the correct decision for Klay.
