OAKLAND – Despite nursing ongoing pain to his chest and ribcage, Kevon Looney will play when the Warriors host the Toronto Raptors in Game 6 of the NBA Finals on Thursday at Oracle Arena.
Looney went through a pre-game warmup with Warriors assistant coach Chris DeMarco, and the Warriors felt encouraged enough about Looney’s health.
Looney sat with 4:50 left in the third quarter and the entire fourth after the Warriors determined he aggravated a fracture near his chest and ribcage. He had suffered the initial injury in Game 2 after Kawhi Leonard bulldozed into him. The Warriors initially did not expect Looney to play for the remainder of the NBA Finals, but he only missed Game 3 after second opinions determined he would not experience any more structural damage if he kept playing.
