During a career spent largely on professional basketball’s fringes, Ian Clark has learned the value of staying ready. Now, with the Warriors in need of bench scoring, the reserve guard is reminding his skeptics that he is an NBA-caliber shooter.
In three of his past four games, Clark has scored in double digits. He needed only 21 shots to erupt for a career-high 36 points in Saturday’s loss to the Spurs. In addition to being the highest-scoring game by a Golden State bench player since Jordan Crawford’s 41-point outburst in April 2014, it was the third-most points scored by an NBA reserve this season, behind 40-point and 38-point outings from Lou Williams.
