Warriors HQ podcast: Golden State starts ‘biggest road trip’ of season on ‘worst note’

The Warriors have yet to “put together a good first half” in the past couple of months, beat writer Dieter Kurtenbach told Mark Medina on this week’s episode of the WarriorsHQ podcast. The pair also discussed Golden State’s signing of Andrew Bogut, DeMarcus Cousins’ increasing minutes and the team’s self-awareness about deficiencies on defense.

“Consistency is a big part of this thing, and we’re yet to see the Golden State Warriors be consistently excellent with DeMarcus Cousins in the lineup and getting utilized the way that he’s been utilized,” Kurtenbach told Medina.

Within the span of a week, Medina added, the team’s 33-point loss to the Boston Celtics, subsequent meeting and “egg-laying” loss to the Phoenix Suns led to a shift from downplaying the importance of the regular season to re-emphasizing it.
