De’Anthony Melton was one of the Golden State Warriors biggest acquisitions this offseason, and the 26-year old guard looked like a perfect fit in the first few games of the season. As the Dubs got off to a 10-2 start, Melton was a key contributor when healthy. However, an ACL injury has led him to undergo season-ending surgery, per a team press release.
While it surely does nothing to solve the Warriors on-court options at the moment, it does give general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. an expiring contract worth just under $13 million. As the Dubs look for a true #2 scorer to pair with Steph Curry, or just a consolidation trade that balances their rotation, Melton’s contract is now a very tradable piece.
