The Warriors’ record-setting 73 wins, signing of Kevin Durant, impending move to San Francisco and continued on-court success has them vaulting up Forbes’ annual list of NBA franchise valuations.
The business magazine released its rankings on Wednesday morning. The Warriors came in at third, valued at $2.6 billion, behind only the New York Knicks ($3.3 billion) and Los Angeles Lakers ($3 billion).
Over the past few years, the NBA’s popularity and financial health have spiked to unprecedented levels. A record 18 teams are valued over $1 billion by Forbes this year. Coinciding perfectly, the Warriors new ownership group — and superstar on-court cast — have grown rapidly with the league.
