Warriors fall 99-89, Memphis takes 2-1 series lead

MEMPHIS — Marreese Speights scored six straight fourth-quarter points to give the Warriors a glimmer of hope Saturday night.

Then, he limped into the locker room with a strained right calf.

In so many ways, it was a microcosm of Game 3 for the Warriors, who made a series of runs at the Grizzlies, but consistently got shoved into positions of hobbling retreat as Memphis used a 99-89 victory to take a 2-1 series lead.

Game 4 of the teams’ best-of-seven, Western Conference semifinal is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday in Memphis, which lived up to its “Grindhouse” moniker as the Grizzlies beat the Warriors 46-32 in paint points and 19-7 in second-chance points.
