All Stephen Curry could do was shake his head in appreciation and, perhaps, envy. The Warriors did what they could to stop Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard. They trapped him, they denied him the ball and they blocked his shot, but it wasn’t enough.
In their 129-124 overtime loss to the Trail Blazers at Moda Center in Portland on Monday night, the Warriors (10-35) aimed to take away Lillard and defang Portland’s offense. Instead, with a career-high 61 points and seven assists, Lillard was responsible for more than half of the Trail Blazers’ (19-26) points.
